An exclusive tour to visit the main highlights of Sal island in one day. Start with the Ecopark/Viveiro Botanical Garden, a special place that exhibits several plants and animals typical from all Cabo Verde islands. The owner will welcome you with a fruit cocktail. We will get to discover Espargos, to visit the administrative center, which is the island’s capital. Pass by Palmeira, a small and colorful fishing village. Buracona, with its well-known blue eye cave and natural pools and Terra Boa desert where we can observe spectacular mirages – Here, the guests will be surprised with an artist who will be producing a painting to offer them, in the middle of the desert! A local products tasting will be taken here too. Pedra de Lume salt mines, which gave origin to the name of the island. In these salt lakes you can bath in a lake with a high concentration of salt, that will make you float. Special body treatment included on the salt mines Spa – a massage with salt and clay from the volcano! Go to Murdeira bay with its views over Lion Mountain, and the Shark Bay, where we can go into the water where baby lemon sharks will swim around us! A guided tour to the most traditional streets of Santa Maria, based on 2 components: art & gastronomy! A nighttime observation experience of sea turtles (Caretta-Caretta), in their natural spawning habitat. One of the most beautiful wonders that nature has to offer us! This experience has a touch of “glamour”, as we will have an explanatory briefing in a Glamping tipi on the beach, where we will be served a drink and snacks. Then we go out to the sand, where we can usually watch several turtles spawning an average of 90 eggs each. Respecting all the rules to not disturb the animals, it can take about 4 hours in total. This trail starts with an easy and gentle ride across the Big Salt Flats of Santa Maria where local people work every day to satisfy the demand of salt for the whole archipelago. Leaving the Salt Flats behind, you will head up to Costa da Fragata, better known as Kite Beach for the great number of kite surfers that during the windy season fill up the sky with their colorful kites. An endless golden sand beach trek awaits where you will hear the roar of the waves and the most experienced riders will have the chance to gallop through the surf. Less experienced riders or those who just want to relax and enjoy the landscape, will ride gently along the shore at walking gait with the assistance of the guides.
